Looking for suggestions for an Other One to listen to by the campfire tonight. Especially looking for heavy on the Phil.

Thoughts? How about a favorite from each decade?

not sure if these fit what you are looking for, but they are three of my fave:

5/31/69
1/3/70 (late show) ... i hope i'm not confusing this with 1/2
5/25/77

12-29-68 is unreal for Jerry's intensity on the guitar work...seeing is believing...

Make that two of us...

I am another firm believer in 68-12-29; though I do offset it at times with the somewhat "mellower" 68-12-07.

Though in regards to the other one, it is the 12-29 version that got me loving the tune.

I should note that after D&M's post I went directly to the 71-08-15 show at the Berkeley Community Theatre. 08-14 and 15 are both great and somewhat important shows since they are some of the last shows of the five man band.

Since I know and love the venue, basically a high school aud, I can visualize pretty well when listening but I sure would have loved to seen those two.

Also, I recall seeing that after 08-15 Jerry changed git-boxes which added to the change going forward as well.

though 71-08-26 in the bronx is another five man treat...

Hmmm, I didn't realize that about the Berk Comm shows...interesting factoid.

Well, you and I have 12-29 in common then...

:)

Howdy younger bro... Good to see you around! And I mean that!

And yes, seriously now, 12/29/68 is always a good cure for whatever ails you, and ust plain fun Otheronewise...

Now this is more like it...that comment by Wayne was pretty funny. If I am anything, it's consistent, eh? Makes life a little simpler as one ages..."oh yeah, my oldman's always cranky, and he's always playing the Grateful Dead so be sure to say something nice about them".

And, I have moved slowly into 71, so be patient Dire.

And good to see you Jon!

Johnny many good recs below. I'll jump in with the 90's suggestion.

try 12-31-90

also 9-17-82. Not sure what recordings are available but I have an aud and as the band is coming out of space and the crowd knows it's TOO they start chanting Phil for a few minutes until he drops the "bomb"

Hmmm...my work is done here.

Good to see you Max. All I can say is I hope you aren't a Celtics fan. I have been taking a beating all day...of course, the sad fact of the matter is that Dad's Day or not, I deserve it (well, my team does anyhow)...even Tito got in his licks (er...damn...that didn't work out...or did it?).

Yep--71 is a great year, I must admit. Have those Berk Shows around here somewhere for some reason...I agree that somehow the vocals really do come thru that yr. Again, might have been all the work they put in on the two studio albums of the year before. Whatever. It's great stuff.

If you're in the mood for '71, you can't go wrong with 7/2/71. One of my favorite overall Other Ones.
